The people I've been working with during this internship are real. They're so connected to the land and "grounded" (haha get it?) They've told me there are instances when they forget that they need to slow down sometimes since they're a production farm. They often forget that the crops and plants depend on them as much as they depend on the crops. Farmer Joe mentioned that the people at the farm are real, and majority of the world is fake. I agree with him. They're so down the earth I hope I continue to be who I am and not let anyone/anything interfere.
Many question come up after spending 4 weeks connected with the earth in a different way. There is instant gratification every day. When you eat the fruit of your labor, it's satisfying. It sounds crazy but when the food you consume is grown with a different energy it doesn't taste like no Taco Bell. Where does the other food I eat come from? How is it raised? How is it grown? But at the farm, I watch it grow and I know it is grown with good intention and good spiritual vibes.
Internship helped me open my eyes if anything. I was able to connect and work with others in an environment that I have never been in before. I was able to build a relationship with not only the staff but also the land. The experience was one I'm grateful I was able to have. If there was one thing the staff at Wild Willow wanted me to take away from this internship is to grow my own food!
